The offensive line has long been considered a thankless position. If an o-lineman does their job, you may not hear their name mentioned more than once during a game. On the other hand, if they are struggling, fans may hear their name mentioned in a negative light multiple times on a broadcast, and even more on social media.
Well, for the first time in NFL history, offensive linemen are about to get the credit they deserve, as the league has created the Protector of the Year award. With a wide range of All-Pro level linemen, including Penei Sewell, Lane Johnson, and Quenton Nelson, this market will be an intriguing one to watch and bet on. For football fans looking to add this new award to their futures portfolio, we've got you covered with a full odds breakdown for the market from now until the end of the season.

*Odds as of September 17, 2025
Penei Sewell (DET Lions): With this being the first time in history that this award will be handed out, the metrics and stats that voters will be using to make their decision are still unclear. However, one can assume, at the very least, they'll be looking at the number of sacks a lineman allows, the number of snaps they play, and the number of penalties they commit. For Penei Sewell, he's been named a First Team All-Pro lineman the past two seasons, and has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last three. In 2024, Sewell committed just two holding calls and allowed just one sack while posting the second-best run-blocking grade among tackles, according to PFF.
Lane Johnson (PHI Eagles): Lane Johnson is fresh off helping the Eagles to another Super Bowl victory, as he is a part of arguably the best offensive line in football. In 2024, Johnson allowed no sacks, which led to him having the 7th-best overall grade among offensive tackles, according to PFF. With Johnson leading the way to one of the most electric rushing offenses in the NFL, he should certainly remain near the top of the odds board for this award as long as he stays healthy.
Trent Williams (SF 49ers): The 6'5 and 320-pound 36-year-old has been protecting quarterbacks for quite a while, and he's remained one of the best in the league at it. Last season, Williams was inside the top ten in both run and pass blocking grade, according to PFF, as he allowed just one sack and committed only five penalties in 649 offensive snaps.
