Saquon Barkley (Philadelphia Eagles): One of the most significant moves this offseason was Barkley's departure from New York to play for the Eagles in his home state. In his first game in an Eagles uniform, Barkley made quite the impression on his new fan base by finding the endzone three times and picking up 109 yards on the ground. Coming off a big game against the Commanders, Barkley extended his league lead in rushing yards with 1,838 while accounting for 15 total touchdowns.
Ja'Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals): While the Bengals season has not gone as planned, the connection between Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase has never looked stronger. In a win over the Browns, Chase took six receptions for 97 yards. Following that performance, he leads the league in receptions (108), receiving yards (1,510), and receiving touchdowns (16).
Derrick Henry (Baltimore Ravens): For the first third of the season, Derrick Henry was neck and neck with Saquon Barkley on the odds board for this award. While Barkley has since run away with it, Henry has still had a phenomenal first season in Baltimore, as he is second in rushing yards with 1,783 on 305 carries. The veteran running back is also up 14 rushing touchdowns on the year after he found the end zone on Christmas against the Texans.

T.J. Watt (Pittsburgh Steelers): Four first-place votes separated T.J. Watt and his second DPOY Award last season. While it was Myles Garrett who would end up winning, Watt still finished the year as the league leader in sacks (19), which is the third time he’s done that in his career.
With the Steelers' offense continuing to be below average this season, Pittsburgh must again rely on their defense. Well, that strategy worked in week one, and T.J. Watt picked up four tackles, a sack, and recovered a fumble. Through 15 games, Watt is 4th in the league with 11.5 sacks on top of 61 tackles and six forced fumbles.
Pat Surtain II (Denver Broncos): The Broncos' defense has been one of the better units in the league, and Surtain is a big reason for that. With four tackles in a loss to the Chargers, Surtain has 36 tackles, four interceptions, and 11 pass defenses on the season.
Nik Bonitto (Denver Broncos): With a strong game against the Colts in week 15, Nik Bonitto became the second Broncos defensive player to crack the top three for this award. In that win, Bonitto racked up five tackles, .5 sacks, and a forced fumble. On the season, Bonitto is now 4th in the league with 11.5 sacks to go along with his 43 tackles and one interception.

Since 2010, six quarterbacks, five running backs, and three wide receivers have won OPOY.
No offensive player has won the award in consecutive seasons since Marshall Faulk won in 1999,2000, and 2001.
Since 2012, the OPOY has gone to a first-time winner.
Winning the award multiple times is more common on defense, as J.J. Watt and Aaron Donald have won it thrice since 2012.
