The clutch factor among NBA players has long been a topic of debate among basketball fans and the media. The subjective question of who you would want with the ball in their hands for the last shot has been asked countless times over the years. While the question can lead to great conversation, these debates have never truly been quantifiable.
In 2022-23, the league introduced the Clutch Player of the Year Award to change that. Of the three players who have earned the award, the most recent was Jalen Brunson, and while he opened as the favorite in most shops, it is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander now at the top of the oddsboard. Down below, we will keep bettors and fans up to date on all odds movement for this market from now until the end of the season.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC Thunder): After winning his first MVP award last season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has continued to play at that impressively high level. Through his first nine games, SGA has averaged 33.3 points per game and leads the league in win shares with 2.1. According to NBA.com, Gilgeous-Alexander has also boasted a 58.9% true shooting percentage and 1321. offensive rating during clutch time.
Tyrese Maxey (PHI 76ers): It's been building up to this for a few seasons, but Tyrese Maxey is the focal point of the 76ers. Even with Joel Embiid healthy, the Sixers are led by Maxey, and for good reason. Maxey has a 42.9% usage rate in clutch time early this season, and he has a 52.8% true shooting percentage in those minutes. The young star has also accounted for 57.1% of the team's assists and 40% of their scoring in clutch time.
Anthony Edwards (MIN Timberwolves): Confidence goes a long way in being clutch, and Anthony Edwards does not lack confidence. More often than not, the ball is going to be in Anthony Edwards' hands, and during clutch time this past season, he averaged 3.7 points while boasting a 58% true shooting percentage, according to NBA.com. While he's dealt with injuries early this season, he is still 18th in the league in clutch time usage rate, accounting for 66.7% of Minnesota's points during that time.
