The Most Improved Player award in the NBA is one of the most interesting accolades a player can receive. While the rest of the awards handed out in the league have stats that can help narrow the field, the MIP can either be an award with a clear-cut winner or, like this past season, it can be given to a player like Tyrese Maxey. Many could argue that Maxey has been playing at an equally strong level over the past two seasons, but that is one of the reasons why betting on this award can be difficult.
As the season heads into February, Cade Cunningham sits atop the odds board, but this is undoubtedly an award that is still wide open for the taking. Below, we'll break down the best price NBA bettors can get for the top candidates for this award.

Cade Cunningham (-115 to -130): It's been quite a while since the Detroit Pistons were a competitive basketball team, and while they may not be title contenders just yet, they do have the makings of a Play-In team. Cade Cunningham and his ascension into a star has been a big reason for the Pistons' leap, as he is averaging 25.3 points per game while also ranking third in the league in assists per game with 9.5. Over his last five games alone, Cunningham has produced two 30+ point and one 40-point performance, all while being named to his first All-Star game.
Norman Powell (+110 to +130): Out of all the candidates for this award, Powell has the most experience in the league. In what is his 12th season in the NBA, Powell is averaging a career-high 24 points on 49.9% shooting from the field and 43.4% from three. While Powell has played big roles throughout his career, especially during his two seasons in Portland, he has never been as efficient on offense as he is this season.
Tyler Herro (+1000 to +1400): Tyler Herro is not just on pace to set a career-high in points per game; he is on pace to set career highs in multiple statistical categories like assists and rebounds. Through 47 games, Herro is averaging 23.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game. With Jimmy Butler trying to force his way out of Miami, Herro could realistically see another spike in those numbers, especially after becoming the lone All-Star selection on the team this season.
