While the Buckeyes have opened as the favorite to become repeat champions, like many other favorites, they will have a new quarterback under center, which could significantly alter their fortunes.

Odds as of October 6, 2025
Ohio State Buckeyes: For the first time since 2014, the Ohio State Buckeyes became National Champions during the 2024-25 season. Despite losing several key players, with Jeremiah Smith back after a record-breaking freshman year, the Buckeyes' offense, under new offensive coordinator Brian Hartline, has been dominant again behind highly touted redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Sayin. The Buckeyes' defense has also been imposing, holding both Texas and Washington to seven points or less. For the Buckeyes' next test, they'll head on the road to Illinois to take on the ranked Fighting Illini.
Oregon Ducks: Quarterbacks have seemingly thrived in Eugene for decades, and with Dillon Gabriel in the NFL, the Ducks have turned to Dante Moore. The former UCLA quarterback sat behind Gabriel last season, and since taking over as the starter, he has the Ducks' offense rolling. In an overtime win over Penn State on the road, Moore threw for three touchdowns, which not only kept the Ducks undefeated but also helped them average 503.8 total yards of offense per game.
Alabama Crimson Tide: Alarm bells were ringing after the first week of the season due to Alabama losing to Florida State. However, since then, the Crimson Tide have returned to their old ways, which include beating Georgia and handling teams like Vanderbilt, who upset them last season. With quarterback Ty Simpson playing at a Heisman level, Alabama seems to have their confidence back, which is vital since they are about to head into a big matchup with undefeated Missouri.
