Throughout a 162-game MLB regular season, managers make countless decisions that impact the trajectory of their ball club. As the season goes on, more people analyze and criticize the decisions made by managers, so it is only right that the top manager in each league gets some recognition through the Manager of the Year Award.
Plenty of movement can happen in this futures market throughout the season, as narratives and streaks will run their course for every team. Down below, we’re tracking the Manager of the Year odds for both the AL and NL across the top sportsbook applications in New Jersey, among many other states.

A.J. Hinch (Detroit Tigers): In his first four seasons in Detroit, Hinch has only finished 4th in the division once, and this season, his Tigers look primed to win the AL Central for the first time since 2014, as they became the first time in the MLB to reach 50 wins, and their (+65) run differential is the second best in the AL. However, like most teams do, the Tigers have hit a rough patch, going 1-9 over their last ten games. While they still hold an eight-game lead, Hinch has seen his lead in the Manager of the Year race shrink drastically.
John Schneider (Toronto Blue Jays): All it took was one impressive series against the Yankees, and not only has John Schneider shot up the odds board, but his team is now in first place in the AL East. After going into the All-Star break with a 7-3 record over their last ten games, the Blue Jays will started the second half with another series win over the Yankees and a win over the Tigers, which not only gives them the second-highest win percentage in the MLB, but it gives them a 4.5 game lead in the AL East.
Joe Espada (Houston Astros): Even after trading one of their best hitters in Kyle Tucker and with Yordan Alvarez only playing 29 games this season, Joe Espada still has his Astros in first place in the AL West. The injury bug has seemingly taken up permanent residence in Houston, but that hasn't bothered the Astros at all, as they hold a five-game lead in the AL West.

Craig Counsell (Chicago Cubs): It was a disappointing first season for Craig Counsell and the Cubs, as they finished 83-79 and missed the postseason. However, even with their third-place finish in the division, Chicago opened as the favorite to win the NL Central this season. Entering the second half, they boast a (+117) run differential, but even though that is the best in the NL, the Cubs still find themselves one game back of the Brewers in the Central.
Pat Murphy (Milwaukee Brewers): After winning NL Manager of the Year in his first season at the helm in Milwaukee, Murphy is right back in the mix. With his Brewers back in first place in the NL Central while also boasting the second-best run differential in the NL (+98), Murphy has his team in a good spot for an exciting divisional race in the second half of the season.
Bob Melvin (San Diego Padres): Having to be in the same division as the Dodgers should automatically give extra weight to managers in the NL West regarding this award. Talent-wise, Bob Melvin is leading one of the most talented teams in the MLB, but even with that, his team can't seem to break out from being an around .500 team, as their 55-48 record has them five games back in the NL West, and in control of the final NL Wild Card spot by a .5 game. San Diego has even gone 5-5 over their last ten games, which has prevented them from gaining any ground on a Dodgers team that has struggled over the past few weeks.
