Carlos Alcaraz: Each year Alcaraz has competed in the French Open, he's improved his finish, culminating with the men's singles title last year. The young superstar seems to prefer clay surfaces, as he's won nine of his 18 titles on clay surfaces, and this season alone, he is 20-1 on clay after beating Tommy Paul in the quarter-finals. Alcaraz is now set to play Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-finals.
Jannik Sinner: In his already storied career, Jannik Sinner has won two of the four tennis majors. However, the French Open is one of the two he's never won, as his best finish came last season when he was eliminated in the semi-finals. Unlike Alcaraz, the Italian is not a fan of clay playing surfaces, as he's only won one title on clay in his career. While he may not be a fan. Sinner has looked phenomenal through the first few rounds of the tournament, as he's yet to drop a match heading into his semi-final meeting with Novak Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic: It doesn't matter what Grand Slam event it is, Novak Djokovic comes to play. The 38-year-old flew through the first four rounds of the French Open without dropping a set, and despite dropping the first set of the quarter-finals to Alexander Zverev, he stormed back to win three consecutive sets. With a chance to reach the finals for the third time in the past five years, Djokovic will now face Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals. In his career, the future Hall of Famer is 4-4 against Sinner, having dropped the last match they played in the Finals at Shanghai.

Aryna Sabalenka: There are two Grand Slam events that Sabalenka has not won yet in her career, and the French Open is one of them. In fact, before this event, Sabalenka had only reached the semi-finals of the French Open once since her debut in 2017. Now, after reaching the French Open finals for the first time, Sabalenka will take on Coco Gauff, with whom she is 5-5 against in her career.
Coco Gauff: While she has come close a few times, Coco Gauff has yet to win the French Open. Last season, Gauff fell in the semi-finals to the eventual winner, Iga Swiatek. Gauff has indeed shown that she enjoys playing on clay, but her recent issue has been closing out events, as her dominance appears to have come to a halt when competing in the finals of clay events. Well, she is once again in the position to change that narrative, as she is back in the French Open Final for the first time since 2022.

ATP and WTA rankings can be the downfall of casual bettors looking to wager on the French Open. These rankings factor in overall success across all tournaments, but what bettors need to focus on is how players perform on different surfaces. In the case of betting on the French Open, they need to dive into how successful players are on clay courts, as it takes a special skill set to find success on clay.
Historically, clay courts have led to a slow pace of play with higher bounces and many rallies. This style of play requires a lot of stamina, high-level sliding ability, and strategic patience. Some of these aforementioned skills can be hard to come by, so even some of the top-ranked players in the world may not possess them.
By identifying which players could have an edge on clay courts, bettors can, in turn, create an edge for themselves. Iga Swiatek is an excellent example of this. In her first five Grand Slam tournaments, she did not advance past the fourth round; yet, in her second-ever French Open, she won the title after opening with odds of (+5000). Bettors who noticed how she played in places like Monte Carlo and Rome before 2020 may have been able to win big by betting on her success on clay, which has since led to three more French Open singles titles.
