The Most Improved Player award in the NBA is one of the most interesting accolades a player can receive. While the rest of the awards handed out in the league have stats that can help narrow the field, the MIP can either be an award with a clear-cut winner or, like this past season, it can be given to a player like Tyrese Maxey. Many could argue that Maxey has been playing at an equally strong level over the past two seasons, but that is one of the reasons why betting on this award can be difficult.
As the season moves into the end of January, Cade Cunningham sits atop the odds board, but this is undoubtedly an award that is still wide open for the taking. Below, we'll break down the best price NBA bettors can get for the top candidates for this award.

Cade Cunningham (-125 to -140): It's been quite a while since the Detroit Pistons were a competitive basketball team, and while they may not be title contenders just yet, they do have the makings of a Play-In team. Cade Cunningham and his ascension into a star has been a big reason for the Pistons' leap, as he is averaging 24.5 points per game while also ranking third in the league in assists per game with 9.3. Over his last five games alone, Cunningham has produced two 30+ point performances, including a 32-point showing in a win on the road over the Rockets.
Evan Mobley (+500 to +600): The Cleveland Cavaliers currently have the best record in the NBA, and Mobley is at the forefront of their success. In what has been the best season of his young career, Mobley is averaging 18.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Mobley has never averaged more than 16.2 points in a season, but his improved three-point shooting has helped him boost scoring numbers. The Cavs big man has already attempted a career-high 107 threes this season and is shooting 42.1% from beyond the arc.
Norman Powell (+550 to +650): Out of all the candidates for this award, Powell has the most experience in the league. In what is his 12th season in the NBA, Powell is averaging a career-high 23.7 points on 49% shooting from the field and 44.1% from three. While Powell has played big roles throughout his career, especially during his two seasons in Portland, he has never been as efficient on offense as he is this season.
