While the Yankees made it interesting for about a game and a half, the LA Dodgers returned to the top of the MLB for the first time since 2020.
The Dodgers would unsurprisingly open as the favorites to repeat, and with the regular season entering late August, they are still sitting atop the odds board. Here, we’ll lay out the 2025 World Series odds across most of the top sports betting apps in New York.

Los Angeles Dodgers: After another World Series and another stellar offseason, the Dodgers have started the 2025 season with a 71-54 record. As the team still works through several injuries on the mound, including Roki Sasaki, their offense has more than enough firepower to carry them to the postseason. While LA has not looked as dominant as they have in the past over their recent series, they still hold a two-game lead over the Padres in the NL West. The Dodgers were also able to bolster their bullpen at the trade deadline with Brock Stewart, and offensively, they still rank 4th in the league in xwOBA and 3rd in xSLG, per BaseballSavant.
Milwaukee Brewers: Seemingly out of nowhere, the Milwaukee Brewers have become the best team in baseball. Heading into the All-Star break, the Brewers were breathing down the Cubs' neck in the NL Central, and now, as the season enters late August, they hold a nine-game lead over Chicago. The Brewers' success can largely be attributed to their young and scrappy lineup, which over the past 30 days ranks 2nd in OPS and SLG.
Detroit Tigers: The Tigers front office did one heck of a job with rebuilding, and after making some noise in the playoffs last season, Detroit looks primed for a deep run this season. Behind Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize, the Tigers' starting pitchers have the second-best FIP in the league this season, per FanGraphs. Injuries have certainly caused some holes to pop up for the Tigers' pitching staff, but they were able to address most of them at the trade deadline.

Aces of pitching staffs and superstar position players are great, and will undoubtedly help teams reach the World Series. However, once that team gets there, the success of those players may only go as far as the bullpen allows. Placing futures on the Fall Classic is not just about which team has the better starters or lineup, but also which team can rely on their bullpen.
Determining a good bullpen goes beyond traditional statistics, such as ERA. Handicappers must dive into metrics such as Win Probability Added (WPA). Bullpens that rank highly in WPA tend to allow their manager a ton of flexibility late in games and throughout a series, as the relievers have proven they can continue strong pitching performances from the starters or stop rallies in their tracks.
Out of the last ten champions, six of them have had their bullpen rank inside the top ten in WPA during the regular season. Additionally, out of the four teams that ranked outside the top ten during the regular season, they ended up ranking 1st in WPA by the end of the postseason. With that, bettors can add this metric to the list of stats they look at when placing futures either during the regular season or during the postseason.
