After getting a matchup of unexpected franchises in the World Series during the 2023 season, baseball fans got a showdown between two of the most storied franchises in the sport during the 2024 World Series. While the Yankees made it interesting for about a game and a half, the LA Dodgers returned to the top of the MLB for the first time since 2020.
The Dodgers would unsurprisingly open as the favorites to repeat, and after sweeping the Brewers in the NLCS, they are taking on an AL East opponent in the World Series for the second straight year, as they are knotted 1-1 with the Blue Jays. Here, we’ll lay out the 2025 World Series odds across most of the top sports betting apps in New York.

Los Angeles Dodgers: After another World Series and another stellar offseason, the Dodgers continued their regular-season success by securing yet another NL West title. In the Wild Card series against the Reds, the Dodgers' offense looked to be in a good spot, and that continued to be the case in the NLDS against the Phillies. In the NLCS, it was the Dodgers' pitching staff and Shohei Ohtani who really stood out. With a chance to sweep the series, they would get arguably the greatest postseason performance from a player, as Shohei Ohtani racked up ten strikeouts on the mound, while hitting three home runs. While LA would drop Game One of the World Series, they would even things up behind a complete game from Yoshinobu Yamamoto and a great game at the plate from Will Smith.
Toronto Blue Jays: For years, Blue Jays fans have been waiting for their core of players to go on a playoff run, and on the back of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., they are now in their first World Series since 1993. With their backs against the wall multiple times in the ALCS, the Blue Jays consistently rallied back. Despite falling behind 2-0 early in the series, Toronto took two out of three games on the road. Then, after winning Game Six, the Blue Jays secured the series in Game Seven with a late three-run home run by George Springer. Toronto's offensive prowess continued to be on full display in Game One of the World Series, scoring 11 runs. With the series tied at one, the Blue Jays will look for their bats to match the LA climate and stay hot in Game Three.

Aces of pitching staffs and superstar position players are great, and will undoubtedly help teams reach the World Series. However, once that team gets there, the success of those players may only go as far as the bullpen allows. Placing futures on the Fall Classic is not just about which team has the better starters or lineup, but also which team can rely on their bullpen.
Determining a good bullpen goes beyond traditional statistics, such as ERA. Handicappers must dive into metrics such as Win Probability Added (WPA). Bullpens that rank highly in WPA tend to allow their manager a ton of flexibility late in games and throughout a series, as the relievers have proven they can continue strong pitching performances from the starters or stop rallies in their tracks.
Out of the last ten champions, six of them have had their bullpen rank inside the top ten in WPA during the regular season. Additionally, out of the four teams that ranked outside the top ten during the regular season, they ended up ranking 1st in WPA by the end of the postseason. With that, bettors can add this metric to the list of stats they look at when placing futures either during the regular season or during the postseason.
