New York Liberty: The New York Liberty earned the #1 seed in the playoffs, and they used that home-court advantage to win the 2024 WNBA Finals in five games. While many people question the officiating in the deciding game of the finals, the Liberty are still champions for the first time in franchise history. New York immediately became the favorites to repeat as champions in 2025, as they'll be returning the killer duo of Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu.
Minnesota Lynx: The Lynx finished the regular season with the second-best record in the league and the best record in the Western Conference at 30-10. With a NET rating of (8), the Lynx earned the #2 seed and fell just short of another title. Minnesota is still in a good spot moving forward with Napheesa Collins leading the charge, so it's not shocking to see them right behind the Liberty on the odds board.
Las Vegas Aces: The Aces failed to reach the WNBA Finals for a third consecutive year, but they still project to be a powerhouse next season behind A'ja Wilson. One area that Las Vegas must improve upon for the 2025 season is their defense, as they finished 5th in defensive rating in 2024, and that is one area that hurt them during the 2024 postseason.

The added attention to the WNBA has primarily stemmed from the influx of talent the league has seen over the past few seasons. Players like A'Ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark have made the league a must-watch event on a nightly basis. Fresh off the 2024 WNBA Finals, Wilson and Clark sit atop the odds board for the 2025 MVP, but there are certainly plenty of players who could end up taking home the award.

*odds as of October 21, 2024
A'ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces): Wilson took home her third MVP in 2024 with another stellar season, in which she led the league in scoring with 26.9 PPG. The Aces star averaged almost four more points per game than the second-leading scorer in the league, as he remains dominant in that aspect. Wilson also finished second in the league in rebounding, as her ability to be an all-around player makes her a tough person to knock off for this award.
Caitlin Clark (Indiana Fever): Even with how good Wilson is, Clark solidified herself as the face of the WNBA in her rookie season. If voters considered viewership numbers, the Fever guard likely would have won more than just Rookie of the Year. Clark finished 7th in the league this season in points per game with an average of 19.2, but she also broke the rookie assist record, averaging 8.4 per game. As her comfort level in the league grows, the question is not when Clark will win the MVP but how many times she will win it.
Napheesa Collins (Minnesota Lynx): Behind her 20.4 PPG, Collins led her team to the WNBA Finals in 2024. Like Wilson, the Lynx star does everything well on the court, pulling down 9.7 rebounds per game. Collins is one of the purest scoring threats in the league, shooting 49.2% from the field in 2024, and after falling short of a title, there is no denying she will enter 2025 highly motivated.
