The UConn Huskies have dominated college basketball for the past two seasons. However, with inconsistent play so far this season, the Huskies are not in the top three on the odds board at the moment. Instead, the Auburn Tigers and Duke Blue Devils sit in a league of their own.
After an exciting few months of non-conference play, the 2024-25 college basketball season is officially into conference play, and we’ll track the updated odds from now until another champion is crowned.

Duke Blue Devils: There is one person every college basketball fan is excited to see next season, and that person is Cooper Flagg. The number-one recruit in his class has received a ton of hype and is considered the expected number-one pick in the 2025 Draft.
After scoring 28 points in a win over Boston College, Flagg is now averaging 19.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, as the Blue Devils are now 16-2 on the year following that win. The Blue Devils mix of highly touted freshman and veteran transfers has benefitted them on both ends of the floor, as they are currently #2 in the country in adjusted defensive efficiency on KenPom.
Auburn Tigers: Despite losing to Duke on the road, the Auburn Tigers have started the season looking like one of the best teams in the country. Overall, the Tigers are 17-1, having won the Maui Invitational with wins over Iowa State, North Carolina, and Memphis. Thanks to the play of big man Johni Broome, the Tigers are ranked first in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency on KenPom.
Iowa State Cyclones: Even after their loss to West Virginia, the Iowa State Cyclones have continued their climb up the odds board. Overall, the Cyclones are 15-2 on the season, and according to KenPom, they are 4th in adjusted efficiency margin. Behind Keshon Gilbert and Curtis Jones, the Cyclones look like a team that is built for a deep tournament run.

Women's college basketball has gained more and more notoriety over the years, largely thanks to Caitlin Clark. While she is now in the WNBA, there is still plenty of talent across the country to keep the sport in the public eye. Young stars like Juju Watkins and experienced veterans like Paige Bueckers headline a strong talent pool in the sport.
While South Carolina is the current favorite, as they look to repeat as champions, both Watkins and Bueckers schools sit right behind them on the odds board. Down below, we'll keep bettors up to date on the National Championship odds for the entire season.

South Carolina: For the second time in three seasons, the South Carolina Gamecocks hoisted the National Championship trophy. Being able to stop the Gamecocks from repeating as champions this season will be no easy task for their opponents. Dawn Staley's team will return eight of their nine top players while adding freshman Joyce Edwards, who won Gatorade High School Player of the Year. With that veteran unit, the Gamecocks have opened the year with a 18-1 record. However, they will have to play the rest of the season without Ashlyn Watkins due to a knee injury.
UConn: The Huskies were once the premier program in the sport, and while they have not been bad over the past few seasons, their last title came back in 2016. Paige Bueckers led the charge last season, and after averaging 21.9 points per game, she'll be doing the same this season. Alongside Bueckers, the Huskies will rely heavily on Azzi Fudd, Ashlynne Shade, and highly touted freshman Sara Strong. With Bueckers healthy, this Huskies team has a real chance of returning to the promised land. Behind that group, UConn has opened the year with a 17-2 record.
Notre Dame: After dropping two straight games, including one to an unranked Utah team, the Fighting Irish bounced back with 11 consecutive wins, which brings them to 16-2 on the season. The Irish have proven early on that they know how to win in big games, as they've already picked up two wins against top-five teams. One of the biggest reasons for Notre Dame's success has been the play of Hannah Hidalgo, averaging 25.5 points per game this season.
