Michigan State Spartans: Whether it's the USCHO or the NPI, the Michigan State Spartans are ranked as the #1 team in the country. Sitting with a 22-6 record, the Spartans are one of just five teams to surpass the 20-win mark, and of the team's six losses, four have come against opponents ranked in the top 15. The Spartans are led by an elite trio of Charlie Stramel, Porter Martone, and Daniel Russell, who have all recorded at least 33 points this season, totaling 107. It also helps that Michigan State has one of the best goaltenders in the country in Trey Augistine, who has a 1.96 GAA and 93.2% save percentage in 26 games.
Michigan Wolverines: Out of all 63 D1 hockey teams, Michigan and Quinnipiac are tied for the most wins with 24. Of the Wolverines 24 wins, eight of them have come against teams ranked inside the top-15. For as good as the Spartans trio has been this season, the Wolverines dynamic duo of T.J. Hughes and Michael Hage has been even better. Hughes and Hage are the only two players in the Big Ten who have recorded over 40 points this season, combining for 85 between the two of them. In the net, Jack Ivankovic has managed a record of 18-5-1 with a 2.13 GAA.
North Dakota Fighting Hawks: Even if North Dakota were to lose every game for the rest of the season, PlayoffStatus still has them with a >99% of making the NCAA Tournament. The Fighting Hawks are 23-7 on the year, putting them atop the NCHC standings with 47 points. Behind Jan Spunar, North Dakota has allowed the fewest goals in the conference (64), as he's boasting a 1.77 GAA. In terms of scoring, the Fighting Hawks have been paced by Dylan James, who leads the team in goals (17) and assists (17).
