One of the most underrated and exciting sporting events is the College World Series, and with the amount of talent around the country this season, that remained the case. The LSU Tigers did not enter the 2025 season as the favorites. Still, behind a strong group of returners and transfer portal acquisitions, they were able to beat Coastal Carolina to win their second College World Series in the past three seasons.
Now that the 2025 season has wrapped up, we are still waiting on the most popular US sportsbooks to release the odds for the 2026 season. Once they do, we will keep college baseball bettors up to date on all odds movements throughout the regular season and up until the final out of the postseason.
Team | Opening Odds | April 16 | May 15 | June 16 | June 22 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
LSU Tigers | +1200 | +725 | +525 | +135 | -380 |
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers | +5500 | +5500 | +3700 | +180 | +300 |
Odds as of June 24, 2025
While the Tigers could not repeat as champions in 2024, they entered this season with another loaded roster. LSU went into the transfer portal to grab infielder Daniel Dickerson and Anthony Eyanson, the team's Saturday starter. The Tigers also featured a mix of highly touted freshmen and returning stars, including Kade Anderson, Steven Milam, and Jared Jones.
Despite dropping one game in their regional to Little Rock, they were still able to book a ticket to the super-regionals, where they hosted West Virginia. After sweeping the Mountaineers, the Tigers did not drop a single game during the College World Series, winning both games of their series with a Coastal Carolina team that had won 26 games in a row before matching up with the Tigers.
Overall, the trio of Kade Anderson, Anthony Eyanson, and Chase Shores was too much for the Chanticleers to handle. At the end of the day, that trio, along with the rest of the Tigers' pitching staff, proved to be too much for most of their opponents as the Tigers finished the season ranked 7th in ERA, 5th in xFIP, 5th in SIERA, and 4th in K's per 9, per CollegeBaseballInsiders.

Every team that makes the College World Series is loaded with talent. Because of this, bettors need a way to separate the true contenders from the teams that relied on that sheer talent all season. One of the best ways to do that is by looking at each team’s bullpen depth and versatility. Between the tight schedule, high-leverage situations, and double elimination format, teams can’t just rely on two solid starters and a closer; they also need a few reliable middle relievers to survive the gauntlet that is Omaha.
College coaches need to constantly adjust their pitching strategy, and having bullpens that can minimize damage during the middle innings or keep the team afloat if a starter struggles makes the coach's job a lot easier. The sharp bettors can identify these teams over the course of the season, allowing them to get the best number possible in the futures market.
Some good examples of champions with deep bullpens include Tennessee in 2024, Ole Miss in 2022, and Oregon State in 2018. Each team had relievers who could handle pressure, work multiple innings if needed, and most importantly, throw strikes consistently. In a sport where offensive numbers tend to dictate much of the market, identifying teams that can attack these lineups in Omaha may help secure value.
